Categories of Economics

  A. The broad categories of Economics are: 1. Micro Economics 2. Macro Economics The major/basic differences between the two broad categories is that: While Microeconomics focuses on the behavior of individual consumers and producers, Macro economics examine overall economies on a regional, national, or international scale. B. Why I study Economics as a discipline To be specific, studying Economics will prepare me for careers that require numerical, statistical, analytical and problem solving skills – for example in business planning, marketing, research and in resource management. Studying Economics will help me to think strategically and make decisions to optimise the outcome. It will also enlighten me on the economic dynamics and impacts of the global economic relations.
